WBE Certification is a registration through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) that designates your business at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by women.

The purpose is to provide women a level playing field in government and corporate contracting.
The goal is to help women-owned businesses thrive and promote equality for women in contracting.

WBE Eligibility

SBA Qualification Criteria:

  • At least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.

  • The top executive officer responsible for managing the daily operations must be a woman and have experience in the business’s field of endeavor.

  • Demonstrated proof of female management and and documents showing legal control of the business, as well as a woman holding the highest defined title in the company’s corporate records.

  • Site visit and interview with female owner(s).

Am I eligible for certification if I recently started my business?
Yes, WBE Certification guidelines do not preclude emerging or start-up businesses from being certified, as long as you meet the eligibility requirements and provide the necessary documentation.
I am a resident alien/green card holder, am I eligible for WBE Certification?
Yes, legal permanent residents are eligible for WBE Certification.
Is there a submission fee paid directly to WBENC for the WBE Certification?
Yes, there is a submission fee paid directly from you to WBENC in addition to our processing and document preparation fee. The WBENC submission fee is based on revenue and is typically between $350 – $500.
Does my WBE Certification have to be renewed annually?
Yes, there is an annual processing and documentation preparation fee, as well as a submission fee paid directly to WBENC from you based on revenue, typically between $350 – $500.
